Meet the Team
Kiley - Owner Operator
Kiley's passion truly is Africa. This started with her first trip to Africa more than 18 years ago. First step in Africa she knew she would be back. Kiley grew up in long time hunting, fishing outdoor family. She has had the opportunity to visit more hunting camps then the average bear… or kudu in our scenario. She feels this is a big advantage to know what their clients are looking for during their safari in Africa.
Troy - Owner Operator / Professional Hunter
Troy's story is not like most in which you hear or think he grew up in a hunting family. His story is far from that. No one in Troy's family hunted. As a little boy he would go fishing with his grandpa. I guess sometimes hunting is really in “your blood”. His real passion is bow hunting which is the only style of hunting he personally does. However he enjoys guiding for rifle clients as well as the bow hunters. Chris - Outfitter / Professional Hunter
Nature has always fascinated me and from a young age I have spent every possible opportunity exploring and reading about all aspects of nature. I have always been passionate about hunting. I can remember myself going hunting with my air gun and later the family pointer. In 1992 I realized the dream of becoming a professional hunter. Ever since I have been hunting professionally for a living, initially as a freelance PH. In 2003 I was approached by Troy and Kiley Matthews to start Africa Sport Hunting Safaris. Currently I am the manager of Africa Sport Hunting Safaris in South Africa and I manage the hunting business and ranch. At Africa Sport Hunting Safaris we continuously strive to hunt ethically and to manage the resources we utilize in a sustainable manner. We also believe in working with the local community and through the generosity of our clients we are able to contribute to projects in our community. My interests, apart from hunting, include bird watching, fishing, reading (history and biographies) and a general curiosity about nature. You are welcome to come and join me, and the best hunting dog in the world, Tsumi, for the experience of a lifetime. Francois - Professional Hunter
As a kid I was always fascinated with nature. I’ve been fortunate enough to grow up in the outdoors, always fishing or hunting. I still remember my first air gun, ambushing birds, the big step towards a .22 …and then my first buck.
Becoming a PH was my dream; hunting with my dad in school break was what I lived for. After high school I went to university and played first division rugby for a couple of years, but realized I must live the dream and make my living from hunting. I completed the professional hunters course in 2005 and free lanced as a PH for a few outfitters till I met Troy, Kiley and Chris of Africa Sport Hunting Safaris. They helped me realize my dream of being a full-time professional hunter. If you would like to realize your dream of hunting in Africa, come and enjoy an ethical and successful hunt with us at Africa Sport Hunting Safaris. David - Professional Hunter
I was born and grew up in a mining community in an area a couple hundred kilometres west of Johannesburg, previously known as the Western Transvaal. Since I can remember I wanted to become a game ranger, although I am not sure how I happened upon this notion growing up in the midst of such an industrialised community.
Once I had completed my school career and finished my two years compulsory military service, I completed the examinations required by our Nature Conservation authority to qualify as a professional hunter. I started out hunting for other hunting outfitters, hunting different areas all over Southern Africa, thereby gaining experience to hunt all the different species, dangerous and non dangerous, which Southern Africa has to offer. Since 1988, other than a short period I spent managing a game ranch for an American landowner, I have acted as full-time professional hunter and hold an unrestricted PH license for all the provinces in South Africa. |
